5 Natural Ways To Ease Sunburned Skin

A beach vacation or a vacation to a tropical land is sure a lot of fun and offers a lot of opportunities to unwind, relax and enjoy with your family. But exposing yourself to excessive heat for a continuous stretch of time can be harmful for the skin. From skin rashes to sunburns, excessive sun heat can lead to many skin conditions. Sunburn is classified as an injury which should be treated by a medical doctor but there are many natural ways to soothe it as well. The following is a list of the top 5 natural ways to ease sunburned skin.

1. Pure aloe vera- One of the best ways to treat sunburn is by applying fresh aloe vera on the affected part.  You can either cut an aloe vera leaf and extract its gel for direct application or get a pack of natural aloe vera gel from the market.  The natural gel is the purest way to ease the burning sensation and soothe the skin and comes without any side effects.

2. Sesame oil- Sesame oil which is made by pressing black sesame seeds or white sesame seeds is another way to soothe sunburned skin. Organic sesame seed oil consists of many nutrients including Vitamin E which are useful for the skin and help to restore it from damage due to the sun.  You can also dilute the oil to apply it on the affected area.

3. Milk- Milk too can soothe sunburnt skin and is effective in reducing the burning sensation. To use milk, apply about ¼ cup of it to a soft cloth and then place this cloth on the irritated skin.  Milk works amazingly since the fats in it lock the moisture inside the skin and help to avoid it from going dry or feeling irritated.  It is best to use organic milk.

4. Lavender essential oil- Lavender essential oil which is devoid of any chemicals or preservatives too works brilliantly on sunburnt skin. Dilute 1 drop of lavender essential oil in 1 teaspoon of purified water and splash it on the exposed or burnt skin.  If the oil has any synthetic or additives in it, then it can only make the condition more worse.

5. Pure water- Since sunburned skin goes sore and dry, the best way to treat it is by hydrating it as much as possible and what way  better to do it than by using water. Apply cool water on the exposed area and also drink pure water to avoid developing sun poisoning.  When you bathe sunburn skin, make use of warm water and not hot water.
Sesame seeds and sesame oil are easily available in India, thanks to the rich sesame crop production.
